Aside social entrepreneurs from different countries, Hélène Demaegdt spoke at the 5th Global Social Business Summit on the topic “Scaling toward social progress” from January 19th to 21th in the Philippines.

The summit held at the Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm in Bulacan, Philippines. This farm village university was founded by Tony Meloto, a former businessman who chose to dedicate his life to the poor with the vision to eradicate poverty for 5 million Filipinos by 2024.

From a resilient idea that began seven years ago and the design of his phase “Social Artistry”, the art of building human capacity in the light of social complexity, Tony Meloto gathered a team of young changemakers which create social enterprises for an inclusive world.

From Gawad Kalinga’s first phase of social justice to provide housing to more than one hundred thousand marginalized families, the NGO made a transition to social progress by building a global platform for social entrepreneurship, to support the value creation in the rural areas and provide jobs.

Synergie Solaire donated a solar installation in GK Enchanted Farm, the electricity produced is self-consumed by the facilities, and allows a saving of 25% of the electricity bill. This solar installation impacts directly the development of the social enterprises in the Enchanted Farm with clean and sustainable energy.
